This proposal was changed in May 2021, but no new release date or version of Perl 5 that would be used as a baseline was mentioned. After Perl 7 comes out, Perl 5, the version that came before it, will go into long-term maintenance. On the other hand, important bug fixes and security updates will still be made to supported versions of Perl 5.
